Research Dossier Generator: Build a Company Research Report

Build a structured company research report from the findings and sources you collect. Enter company details, add evidence, choose the sections you need, review the dossier and download it as a PDF.

The tool organises and presents your research. It does not search the web or verify anything for you.

Privacy: everything you enter stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. Your entries are kept in this tab's session storage until you close the tab or clear the dossier. The PDF is created on your device; the only network requests are loading the two PDF libraries from cdnjs.

1. Company information

2. Research purpose, scope and sections

Report sections

3. Research findings and evidence

Add each finding with the source that supports it. List more than one source per finding, one per line, as Source name | URL | publication date. A URL you supply is not proof that a claim is accurate.

4. Competitors (optional)

Add competitors you have identified yourself. The tool never suggests competitors.

How the tool works

You supply the company details, findings and sources. The generator groups findings by category, builds the sections you selected, numbers every source (S001, S002 and so on) and flags what is unverified, conflicting or missing. It writes only from what you entered. Where nothing was supplied, the report says so.

Limitations

This standalone version runs in your browser. It cannot browse company websites, check registries or confirm that a source says what you recorded. The completeness score measures how much of the dossier is filled in. It does not measure whether the company or the information is reliable. The report is not legal, investment, financial or professional due diligence.

Adding research automation later

Keep the report-building code and replace the form inputs with results from a backend. The backend should call an authorised research or search API, keep API keys on the server, and return findings with source URLs and retrieval dates in the same finding format used here. Do not put private keys in this page's JavaScript.

Frequently asked questions

What is a research dossier?

A research dossier is an organised file of information about a company or subject, with the sources behind each claim.

What information should a company research dossier include?

Typically an overview, products and services, leadership and ownership, market context, competitors, financial information, risks, public coverage, a source list and open questions.

How does the research dossier generator work?

You enter details and findings. The tool applies fixed rules in your browser to arrange them into a report and calculate a completeness summary.

Can I create a dossier for any company?

Yes, if you have information about it. The tool does not look anything up.

Does the tool automatically verify company information?

No. Verification labels record your own judgement of whether a cited source supports a claim.

Can I edit my research dossier?

Yes. Go back and change any input, or edit the executive summary and conclusion directly in the preview. The PDF uses your edits.

Can I download the dossier as a PDF?

Yes. The PDF is built in your browser with selectable text. If the PDF library cannot load, use the print option.

What should I do when company information is unavailable?

Leave the field blank. The report shows "Not provided" or "No evidence supplied" and lists the gap under next steps.

Is the dossier a substitute for professional due diligence?

No. Use it to organise preliminary research, and get professional advice for legal, financial or investment decisions.

Technology Gala’s Research Dossier Generator is designed to support a more organized research workflow. Use it as a starting point for company research, then check important claims against their original sources before making business decisions.

What Is a Research Dossier Generator?

A research dossier generator is a tool that helps turn research inputs and collected information into an organized report. Depending on its capabilities, it may help structure company details, summarize findings, identify relevant topics and arrange source information into useful sections.

A company research dossier can include its background, products and services, leadership, competitors, financial disclosures, recent developments and potential risks.

The purpose is simple: bring relevant information together in a format that is easier to review and use.

Try the Technology Gala Research Dossier Generator

Use the Research Dossier Generator to start your research workflow.

Before using any generated report, define what you need to learn about the company. A focused research objective makes it easier to identify useful information and avoid collecting irrelevant details.

Who Can Use a Research Dossier Generator?

A structured research workflow can help different professionals prepare for business decisions.

Sales and Business Development Teams

Research prospective clients before outreach. Review their services, target customers, recent announcements and business priorities to prepare more relevant conversations.

Marketing and SEO Professionals

Study competitors, compare their services and positioning, and identify topics or market segments that deserve further investigation. Verify competitive claims before using them in a strategy.

Business Analysts and Consultants

Organize company background information, market findings and supporting evidence before preparing a client report or business assessment.

Procurement and Operations Teams

Research potential suppliers and business partners. Review their available business information, service offerings, public records and reported developments before moving to further checks.

Entrepreneurs and Business Owners

Understand other businesses in your market, compare their offerings and gather information that supports planning and competitive analysis.

What Should a Company Research Dossier Include?

A useful dossier focuses on information relevant to the research objective. Common sections include:

  • Company overview: Business name, website, location, industry and services.
  • Business model: Products, customer segments and revenue sources where known.
  • Leadership and ownership: Publicly available executive and ownership details.
  • Financial information: Published financial results, funding announcements and relevant disclosures.
  • Competitor analysis: Competing businesses, service differences and market positioning.
  • Recent developments: Product launches, acquisitions, expansion and leadership changes.
  • Risks and opportunities: Issues requiring attention and findings that may influence a decision.
  • Sources and verification: Links, dates and notes showing where important claims came from.

Not every company publishes all this information. Private businesses may have limited public financial disclosures, so distinguish unavailable information from verified findings.

How to Get Better Results From a Research Dossier Generator

The quality of your research depends on the questions you ask and the evidence you review.

1. Set a Clear Research Objective

Decide whether you are researching a potential client, competitor, supplier, partner or investment. Each objective requires a different set of questions.

2. Identify the Correct Company

Confirm the official website and business identity before relying on information associated with its name. Similar business names can lead to incorrect matches.

3. Focus on Relevant Information

Prioritize the facts that could influence your decision. A sales team may need customer segments and business priorities, while a supplier assessment may require registration details and operational information.

4. Check the Sources

Review the original source behind important claims. Use official filings for reported financial information and credible independent reporting for external developments. Check dates and context before treating information as current.

5. Review the Final Report

Look for missing evidence, conflicting information, outdated details and conclusions that go beyond the available facts. AI-assisted research can contain errors, so review the output before sharing or relying on it.

Research Dossier Generator vs. Manual Research

ApproachBest suited forMain consideration
Manual researchNarrow questions and detailed source-by-source checksRequires more time to collect and organize information
Research dossier generatorOrganizing a research workflow and preparing a structured starting pointOutput quality depends on the tool and the information available
Combined approachMost business research tasksRequires review of the generated findings and sources

A generator does not remove the need for research judgment. It should help organize the work rather than replace source verification.
